Same-Day Hip & Knee Replacement · Oklahoma City

Is It Time for a Knee Replacement?

Waiting rarely makes the decision easier. As the joint wears down, the muscles around it weaken and the other knee, the hip, and the back start absorbing what the bad knee cannot.

What Knee Replacement Recovery Actually Looks Like

Every plan is different because every patient is. Yours will be built around your life, not a template.

Day of Surgery

You are up and walking with a walker within a few hours, and you start gentle bending and straightening the same day. Most patients head home the same evening.

First Two Weeks

Motion is the priority. You work on bending and fully straightening the knee every day, trade the walker for a cane as your balance returns, and take short walks often instead of long ones rarely. Many patients are driving again toward the end of this stage.

Weeks Three to Six

Stiffness and swelling keep easing while strength builds back. Most patients are walking without aids, handling stairs normally, and back at work by this point, with higher-impact activity cleared around the eight-week mark.

5-year program

MyGuarantee is a comprehensive 5-year program that protects you against the unexpected. If a covered complication arises, MyGuarantee will reimburse you for qualified out-of-pocket expenses1 up to $5,000. With MyGuarantee, you can focus on what matters most: your recovery. Best of all, the MyGuarantee program is provided at no cost to you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Less than most people expect. Our protocol controls pain without relying on narcotics, and because the surgery works around your muscles instead of cutting through them, soreness fades faster and walking feels more natural sooner.
Most candidates do. With a muscle-sparing approach and an opioid-free pain protocol, the majority of our patients are walking within hours and recovering at home the same evening, with no hospital stay.
Most knee replacements last for decades. Large studies of national joint registries found that about 9 in 10 knee replacements were still working 15 to 20 years after surgery, and more than 8 in 10 were still working at 25 years. How long yours lasts depends on your activity level, weight, and overall health.
Many patients drive within two to three weeks and return to desk work around the same time. More physical jobs and travel usually come between weeks three and six, once your balance and strength are back.
Age matters less than your health and how much the knee is limiting your life. We regularly treat patients in their 40s through their 80s. The right time is when pain is shaping your daily decisions and other treatments have stopped helping.
